Nobody at Afterpage reads your messages. Files are stored as encrypted blobs. We have no reason and no mechanism to view your personal content.

Access codes use cryptographically random generation, excluding ambiguous characters. Five failed access attempts from the same IP address triggers a temporary lockout.

It does not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information. IP addresses are anonymised before being sent to Google.

We are aware that visitors to Afterpage may be thinking about sensitive matters. We take that seriously. Google Analytics data is used solely to improve the product, never for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond that.

Google Analytics only loads if you consent. You will be asked when you first visit the site. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your cookies or using your browser's privacy settings.

Why Afterpage exists

Some things are
hard to say out loud.

I've lived in a few different countries over the course of my life. Every time I left somewhere: a place, a job, a chapter. I made a point of saying goodbye properly. Not because I had to. Because I knew that the people I was leaving deserved to hear it.

When my grandfather died, there was nothing. Not a word in his will, not a note, not a message left behind for any of us. I don't think he was a cold man. I think he just never found the moment. It hurt. Not because he didn't love us. I know he did, but because we were left to guess. Left to fill the silence ourselves.

But sometimes the most important things are the hardest to say face to face. There's something about looking someone in the eye when the words feel too big, too final, too much. You worry about how you'll sound. You put it off. You tell yourself there'll be another time.

Afterpage exists because there isn't always another time.

It's easier to say the thing you've always meant to say when you're not standing in front of someone. When you can take your time, get it right, and know that when they hear it, whenever that is, it will be exactly what you meant.

This isn't a product built by a large company. It's built by one person, in Maidenhead, who wanted something like this to exist and couldn't find it. The whole point is that it's simple, human, and keeps exactly the promise it makes.

People search for ways to leave a final message for family, to record something for their grandchildren, to say the things they never quite said out loud. Afterpage was built for exactly that moment.

What we promise you

We will never lose a message. Every recording is encrypted and stored on enterprise-grade infrastructure.
We will never sell your data. Not to anyone. Not ever.
We will always warn you before anything is deleted, and we will warn the person you chose.
We will always be reachable. A real person reads every email sent to hello@afterpage.co.uk.

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026 · Afterpage Ltd · Maidenhead, England

1. About Afterpage

Afterpage Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales. We provide a digital service that allows individuals to record video, audio, and written messages for posthumous delivery to nominated recipients via a unique physical access card and code.

By purchasing any Afterpage product and using our service, you agree to these Terms and Conditions in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. The service

Afterpage allows you to record a message, which is stored securely on our servers for the duration of your chosen storage term. Upon purchase, a physical access card bearing a unique code is posted to your billing address. The card and code are the sole means of accessing your stored message.

We offer three tiers: One (1 message, £49), Five (up to 5 messages, £89), and Ten (up to 10 messages with dedicated pages per recipient, £179). All tiers include a physical card posted to you.

3. Storage duration and renewal

Your message is stored securely for 5 years from the date of recording. Before expiry, you will receive an automated reminder email. You may extend storage by a further 3 years by paying the renewal fee of £9.95.

If no renewal is made and the message has not been accessed, a final warning email will be sent to you and to your nominated executor email address at least 30 days before deletion. If no action is taken, the file will be permanently deleted at the end of the storage term.

Important: Before deleting any message that has never been accessed, Afterpage will send a final email to the nominated executor email address you provided at signup. This is a one-time courtesy notification. We strongly recommend keeping your executor email address up to date in your account settings.

4. Access and delivery

The physical access card and unique code are the sole means of accessing your message. The customer is solely responsible for the safe storage and distribution of the access card and code. Afterpage does not verify the identity of the person entering the code. Anyone in possession of a valid code will be granted access to the message.

Upon a valid code being entered, a 30-day download window opens. A reminder email is sent at day 20. If the message is not downloaded within 30 days, one automatic 30-day extension is granted. After this extension, if no download occurs, the message is locked pending further action.

Once a message is downloaded, it is permanently deleted from Afterpage servers within 24 hours. The contract is then considered complete.

5. Fees and payments

All fees are non-refundable. The service is considered fulfilled upon secure storage of your message and dispatch of the physical access card. Afterpage operates on the same principle as insurance: you pay for the protection and the service, not the outcome. The fact that a message is not accessed during the storage term does not entitle the customer to a refund.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Afterpage does not store your card details.

Changing the designated recipient of a message requires a new access card to be issued at a cost of £4.99. The previous access code is deactivated immediately upon issue of a new card. Replacement cards (e.g. if lost) are also available at £4.99.

6. Re-recording and changes

You may re-record or replace your message at any time free of charge by logging into your Afterpage account. The previous message is permanently deleted upon upload of a new recording. The 5-year storage term runs from the original date of purchase and is not extended by re-recording. If you wish to extend your storage term, you must purchase a renewal at £9.95.

You may update your nominated executor email address at any time via your account portal.

7. Liability

Afterpage takes all reasonable measures to ensure the security, integrity, and availability of stored messages, including encrypted storage on enterprise-grade infrastructure. However, Afterpage's liability for any loss of stored data is limited to the amount paid for the service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or emotional loss arising from data loss or service failure.

Afterpage is not liable for failure to deliver a message if the access card is lost, the code is not distributed by the customer, or the executor email address on file is incorrect or outdated.

8. Company closure

In the event that Afterpage Ltd ceases trading, all customers with active stored messages will receive a minimum of 90 days' notice by email, together with a direct download link for their content. Afterpage will take all reasonable steps to ensure customers can retrieve their messages before the service is discontinued.

9. Data and privacy

Afterpage is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller. We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR. Your data is never sold to third parties.

You have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via your account portal. Upon deletion, all stored messages and personal data are permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

For full details of how we handle your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from the use of Afterpage shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
